Kimbo Coffee - a taste of Naples
Kimbo is not just a coffee brand. It is the story of how Neapolitan coffee culture has made its way from small bars and roasteries to the international market. For many customers, Kimbo also has a strong emotional dimension. It is a coffee they already know – often from trips to Italy, from Autogrill cafes or from their first encounters with real espresso abroad.
Kimbo’s character is built on consistency and respect for tradition. The brand works with a selection of coffee beans from different regions of the world – from South America to Asia – and the resulting blend is always created to carry the typical Neapolitan signature. An important element is the roasting method. Kimbo uses methods that highlight the fullness of the flavor and minimize acidity, which is exactly what lovers of classic Italian espresso expect. The result is a coffee with a strong aroma, a thick crema and a taste that stays on the tongue longer than with conventional blends.
The history of Kimbo begins in Naples in the 1960s, when the Rubino brothers continued the family tradition of coffee roasting. At a time when the Italian coffee market began to modernize and expand, they focused on one clear direction – to preserve the authentic Neapolitan style of roasting and transfer it to the wider world. Naples is specific in that espresso is not just a drink here, but a social ritual. Coffee is drunk quickly, intensely and with an emphasis on full flavor. This approach has become the basis of the Kimbo brand DNA. Unlike northern Italian roasting styles, which are often softer and lighter, Kimbo sticks to a darker roast, which emphasizes the body of the coffee, its intensity and chocolate-roasted notes. The combination of tradition, innovative marketing strategies and substantial investments in production ensured that the company became the second largest producer of packaged coffee in Italy in 1994.
